Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 1 pound frozen chicken wings
Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Sauce
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce or any wing sauce you love
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer. Set your air fryer to 400°F. Preheating helps wings get crisp from the start. If your model doesn’t have a preheat button, run it empty for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Prepare the Frozen Wings. Place frozen wings directly into the air fryer basket in a single layer. It’s fine if some are stuck together as they will separate while cooking. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Toss to evenly coat.
- Initial Air Frying. Cook the wings at 400°F for 10 minutes. Open the basket, use tongs to separate any stuck wings, then continue cooking for another 10 minutes until wings are golden and skin starts crisping.
- Coat Wings with Sauce. Remove wings from the air fryer and transfer to a bowl. Pour BBQ sauce over them and toss to coat all wings thoroughly.
- Caramelize the Sauce. Return the sauced wings to the air fryer basket and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes at 400°F. This step caramelizes the sauce locking in flavor, resulting in sticky, shiny wings.
- Check Doneness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature of the wings reaches 165°F for safe consumption.
Notes
- Do not thaw or rinse frozen wings before cooking to retain crispiness.
- Ensure wings are spread in a single layer, but it’s okay if some remain stuck initially.
- Adjust seasoning and sauce quantities based on personal preference.
- Cooking time may vary slightly depending on air fryer model and wing size.
- Use a meat thermometer to confirm wings are fully cooked at 165°F internal temperature.
