Description
A simple and delicious recipe for the best blueberry overnight oats, combining fresh or frozen blueberries, oats, chia seeds, and your choice of milk and sweetener. Perfect for a quick, nutritious breakfast ready in the morning with minimal prep.
Ingredients
Scale
Blueberry Mixture
- ⅓ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
Oats Mixture
- ½ cup oats (old-fashioned, rolled, gluten-free if needed)
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- ½ cup milk (oat, soy, or nut-based milk)
- 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup (or honey)
Instructions
- Heat Blueberries: Add the blueberries to an 8-oz. glass Mason jar. Microwave for 60 seconds, or until the blueberries begin to burst, releasing their juices for better flavor infusion.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the oats, chia seeds, milk, and your chosen sweetener to the jar with the heated blueberries. Stir thoroughly until the oats are well coated and the mixture is evenly combined.
- Refrigerate: Place the jar in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, allowing the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid and soften to a creamy consistency.
- Serve: Remove from the fridge and serve chilled, optionally topping with additional fresh berries for extra freshness and flavor.
Notes
- Use gluten-free oats if you need a gluten-free version.
- Feel free to substitute maple syrup with honey or agave nectar based on preference.
- Overnight oats can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- For a thicker consistency, reduce the milk to ⅓ cup, or add more if you prefer it thinner.
- Microwaving blueberries enhances their flavor and helps to release natural juices, but you can skip this step if desired.
