Delicious and easy Slow Cooker Sandwiches made with layers of provolone, ham, salami, and banana pepper rings nestled in a Tuscan round loaf, seasoned with Italian herbs, slow-cooked to perfect melty tenderness.
Ingredients
Scale
Sandwich Ingredients
- 1 round loaf bread (Tuscan recommended)
- 12-14 slices provolone cheese
- 12-14 thinly sliced ham slices
- 12-14 slices of salami
- Banana pepper rings, well drained
- Dried Italian seasoning, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the bread: Slice the round loaf 13 times almost all the way through, leaving about a 1/2 inch space at the bottom so it holds together.
- Layer the fillings: Between each cut slice, layer 2 slices of each meat (ham and salami), a slice of provolone cheese, and some banana pepper rings. Sprinkle dried Italian seasoning over each layered section for extra flavor.
- Seal the sandwich: Fold the loaf back together carefully to create a sandwich bundle, then wrap it tightly in aluminum foil to hold the shape and flavors in during cooking.
- Prepare slow cooker base: Make four small balls of aluminum foil and place them in the slow cooker to elevate the sandwich from the bottom. Pour 1 cup of water into the slow cooker to create a moist cooking environment.
- Cook the sandwich: Place the wrapped sandwich loaf on top of the foil balls inside the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is heated through.
- Serve: Carefully remove the sandwich bundle from the slow cooker, unwrap, and cut into 4 to 6 individual sandwiches. Serve immediately to enjoy the warm, melty texture before the bread dries out.
Notes
- Make sure the banana pepper rings are well drained to avoid soggy bread.
- Use Tuscan round loaf or similar crusty bread that can hold fillings well.
- Serve immediately after cooking; if left too long, the bread may become dry.
- You can adjust quantities of meat and cheese depending on loaf size and preference.
- This recipe is perfect for a cozy, hands-off meal preparation.
